MTC Vampire
The MTC Vampire is a single day ultra covering 38 miles from Travelodge Bristol Filton to Premier Inn Bridgewater North. It follows the same route used by the MTC JOGLE event but with a reduced daily distance. The race is Day 9 of the MTC ALBION thirteen day end to end series and is part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge.
Entries are limited to 20 race only places with an additional allowance of 20 for ALBION competitors, giving a maximum of 40 competitors. All deposits and payments are non refundable; entrants may add optional personal cancellation insurance at checkout. Finishers receive a bespoke Vampire medal and male and female champions receive trophies.
Navigation information, GPX and maps are provided to entrants approximately four weeks before the event. Each competitor receives a tracking device with an SOS button and real time tracking is available during the race. Cut off times and checkpoints are set to enforce a minimum average of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall persistently below this requirement will be withdrawn.
The event is cup free so competitors must bring a reusable cup. Example checkpoint food includes malt loaf, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and an emergency food pack.
