MTC Vampire (event)
The MTC Vampire takes place on 18th July 2029. It is a single-day ultra of 38 miles and is Day 9 of the MTC ALBION, a thirteen day end-to-end of England. The event is the first edition of this race and forms part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge series. All finishers receive a bespoke Vampire medal; male and female champions also receive trophies. The event is cup-free.
Route, logistics and rules
The route runs from Travelodge Bristol Filton to Premier Inn Bridgewater North, following the same line used by the MTC JOGLE event but with reduced daily distances. Checkpoints are located at approximately 9.1 miles, 17.2 miles, 26 miles and the finish at 38 miles. Maps and GPX files are provided only to entrants and are emailed about four weeks before the race. URL issues a tracking device to each competitor with real-time tracking and an SOS function.
Entries are limited to 20 standard competitors plus an additional 20 for ALBION entrants (maximum 40). Entry fees are stated as £90 for the Ultra and £155 for the Plus Race Package, which includes an embroidered race shirt and lightweight hi-viz jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event. All fees and deposits are non-refundable. Competitors must be 20 years or over and carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and an emergency food pack. The organiser enforces a minimum average of 4.0 mph; falling below this requirement can result in withdrawal. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
