MTC Vampire - Ultra Running
The MTC Vampire is a single-day ultra running event covering 38 miles. It forms Day 9 of the MTC ALBION, a thirteen day end-to-end series across England, and follows the same route used by the organiser's JOGLE event with reduced daily distances. The course runs from Travelodge Bristol Filton to Premier Inn Bridgewater North and includes three intermediate check points at roughly 9.1 miles, 17.2 miles and 26 miles.
Entrant numbers are limited to 20, with an additional allowance of 20 places for ALBION competitors creating a maximum field of 40. The organiser enforces a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. The event is cup free and finishers receive a Vampire medal; male and female champions will also receive bespoke trophies that are in the design stage.
Maps and GPX files, plus route navigation information, are provided only to entrants and are emailed about four weeks before the race. The organiser issues tracking devices with SOS capability so competitor progress can be monitored. Competitors must carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food items, plus a waterproof map case and blister treatment.
