MTC Vampire - event details
The MTC Vampire is a one-day ultramarathon on 21 July 2027 covering 38 miles. It forms Day 9 of the MTC ALBION thirteen-day end-to-end challenge of England and follows the same route used in the organiser’s JOGLE event but with reduced daily distances. The route runs from Travelodge Bristol Filton to Premier Inn Bridgewater North and includes three intermediate checkpoints at approximately 9.1 miles, 17.2 miles, and 26 miles. Competitor places are limited to 20 entries, with an additional allowance of 20 for ALBION entrants, giving a maximum of 40 runners.
Logistics, rules and mandatory kit
The event enforces time cut-offs based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below this average may be withdrawn. Entrants must be aged 20 or over on race day. Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants only and are emailed about four weeks before the event. The organiser issues tracking devices with SOS capability for monitoring during the race. The race is cup-free so runners must bring a reusable cup.
Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, the provided route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid items and emergency food. Typical checkpoint food items may include malt loaf, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola and water. Entry options include a standard entry and a plus package that includes a race shirt and hi-viz jacket. All finishers receive a Vampire medal; male and female winners receive bespoke trophies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
