Race Details
The MTC Vampire is a 38 mile ultra running event. It is part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series and also serves as day 9 of a larger, thirteen-day ultra race of England called MTC Albion. Competitors in the Vampire run alongside those taking part in the multi-day Albion challenge.
Route
The route starts at the Travelodge Bristol Filton and finishes at the Premier Inn, Bridgwater North. It follows the same course used for the organizer's JOGLE (John o' Groats to Land's End) race. The course passes through several checkpoints:
- CP1 at 9.1 miles in Long Ashton.
- CP2 at 17.2 miles in Congresbury.
- CP3 at 26 miles in Axbridge.
All finishers receive a bespoke Vampire medal. Male and female champions also receive a bespoke race trophy.
Participation & Logistics
Competitor numbers are limited to a maximum of 40 (20 for the Vampire specifically, plus an allowance for 20 Albion runners). There is a strict minimum pace requirement of 4 miles per hour; falling below this average speed can result in withdrawal from the race. The event is cup-free, meaning participants must bring their own reusable cup.
A specific mandatory kit list must be carried, including a backpack, head torch, maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, and a basic first aid kit. The organizer provides each competitor with a tracking device that includes an SOS button.
Entry fees are non-refundable, but a personal cancellation insurance policy can be added at the time of booking. An optional "Plus Race Package" includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz jacket. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
