MTC Oilliphéist

Event

The MTC Oilliphéist is a single-day ultra running event held on 15th May 2026. It is listed as Day 8 of the MTC MizMal® fourteen day end-to-end of Ireland series and is part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series. The event edition is the first. All finishers receive a bespoke Oilliphéist medal. There is an optional race package that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz jacket. Entry fees are stated as £90 for the race and £155 for the race plus clothing package. Competitor numbers are limited to 20 regular entries with an additional allowance of 20 MizMal® competitors, for a maximum of 40 participants.

Route and rules

The course runs from Nox Hotel, Galway to the Woodfield Hotel, Clifden, Galway. The distance is shown as 58 miles (total 58.2 miles in route data). Organisers provide maps and GPX files to entrants and give each competitor a tracking device with an SOS function. The event is cup-free so competitors must bring a reusable cup. The organisers enforce a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors falling below this requirement may be withdrawn.
