About the race
The Mount to Coast MTC Oilliphéist is a 58-mile ultramarathon held on Friday 14 May 2027 as Day 8 of the 14-day Mount to Coast MizMal® event. The stage runs point-to-point from Galway to Clifden, beginning at the Nox Hotel in Galway and finishing at the Woodfield Hotel in Clifden. The measured route is 58.2 miles with 1,818 feet of total ascent and five supported checkpoints. Checkpoints provide refreshments and are spaced roughly every 9 to 11 miles along the route.
The course is not fully waymarked; competitors receive GPX route files and must be capable of independent navigation. Every competitor is issued a GPS tracker with live tracking and an SOS facility. Entries are available as a standalone 58-mile race or as part of the full MizMal® package. Standard and Plus entry options are listed, with Plus including event clothing.
Standalone competitors must arrange their own transport to the start and from the finish unless alternative arrangements are confirmed by the organiser. Race rules require competitors to be 18 or older, carry mandatory equipment, follow the supplied route and maintain a minimum average pace of 4 mph.
