MTC Macha

The MTC Macha is an ultramarathon with a distance of approximately 47 miles. It is part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge series. The race begins at the Killarney Court Hotel in Killarney and finishes at the Cliff House Hotel in Ballybunion. It also serves as the third day of the multi-day MizMal® event, a fourteen-day end-to-end challenge across Ireland.

The route follows the MizMal® course as provided by Wild Atlantic Cycling. There is a mandatory minimum average speed of 4 mph, and competitors who fall below this pace will be withdrawn from the race. The event is limited to 40 participants. All finishers receive a bespoke medal, and champions in the male and female categories receive a trophy.

Participants must carry specific mandatory equipment, including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, map, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, and a basic first aid kit. The event operates a cup-free policy, so runners must bring their own reusable cup. Checkpoints offer food items such as malt loaf, cake, sandwiches, sweets, squash, cola, and water.

Entry fees start at £90. An optional "Plus Race Package" is available for £155, which includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz jacket if purchased at least four weeks before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
