MTC MACHA : Overview
The MTC MACHA is a single-day ultra run on 10 May 2026 and is presented as part of the Mount to Coast MizMal® end-to-end series. The event distance is listed as approximately 47 miles (route data shows 47.3 miles). Total ascent is given as 724.9 metres and total descent as 736.4 metres. The race is limited to 20 dedicated entries with an additional allowance of 20 MizMal® competitors, giving a maximum field of 40. All finishers receive a bespoke MACHA medal; male and female champions receive trophies.
Route, logistics and rules
The route starts in the Killarney area and finishes at the Cliff House Hotel, Ballybunion, following much of the MizMal® route. Check-points are positioned along the course and have preset cut-off times based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. The event is cup-free and competitors must supply a reusable cup. URL issues tracking devices with SOS capability and provides maps and GPX files to entrants before the race. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, emergency food pack and a basic first aid kit.
