Event details
MTC MACHA is a single-day ultra running event scheduled for 10 May 2026. It forms Day 3 of the MTC MizMal® fourteen-day end-to-end of Ireland. The course runs from Killarney (Killarney Court Hotel) to Ballybunion (Cliff House Hotel) and is advertised as approximately 47 miles with about 725 metres of ascent and 736 metres of descent. This is the first edition of the event. Competitor numbers are limited to 20 race-only entries plus an additional 20 places for MizMal® multi-day entrants (maximum 40).
Logistics and rules
The race is cup-free; competitors must bring a reusable cup. The organiser sets preset cut-offs based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; runners who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food. Entrants must meet the minimum age requirement of 20 years on race day. Entries are non-refundable; a defer option is available for a fee. Each competitor will receive a tracking device with an SOS function and maps and GPX files are supplied to entrants prior to the race. Finishers receive a bespoke MACHA medal; male and female champions also receive trophies. Entry fees and a plus package option for race clothing are published by the organiser.
