Farranfore St. Stephen's Day Road Race
The Farranfore St. Stephen's Day Road Race is an annual event held in Farranfore, in existence since 1961 and run along the same route each year. The course starts and finishes at the Kerry Mill in Farranfore, goes to Firies and returns along the same road. The road is closed to traffic for the duration of the race and there are stewards and water stations along the route. The event has an AAI permit.
Two distances are offered:
- 5K timed race open to all aged 13 years and over on race day
- 2K family fun run and walk, turning at the 1 kilometer marker
Both races start near the Kerry Group Mill about 400 meters from the community hall registration and parking area. The opening 400 meters rise uphill, then descends and levels for about 1.6 kilometers before an uphill approach to Firies where runners turn and return the same way. Number collection takes place at the Sports Hall Farranfore from 10:45 to 11:30 am on race day. Entry is online via MyRunResults with fees listed for each distance.
