Farranfore St. Stephen's Day Road Race
The Farranfore St. Stephen's Day Road Race is an annual road race held since 1961 along a consistent route between Farranfore and Firies in County Kerry. The event starts and finishes at the Kerry Group Mill in Farranfore and follows the Farranfore to Firies road, passing near the cross-roads in Firies before returning to Farranfore on the same road. Roads are closed to traffic for the duration of the race and stewards are positioned along the route. Water is available at the start and finish area.
Registration is online only via MyRunResults and number collection takes place at the Sports Hall in Farranfore. The event holds an AAI permit. GPS coordinates for the venue are 52.172649, -9.546777 and the EIRCODE is V93 KP27. There is ample parking near the Community Hall, which is about 400 metres from the start and the registration area.
The event offers two distances:
- 5K Timed Race open to participants aged 13 years and over on race day
- 2K Family Fun Run / Walk with a turnaround at the 1K marker
Course notes: the first 400 metres climb out of Farranfore is uphill, followed by a downhill section and about 1.6 km of level running before the climb into Firies. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
