Event details
The MTC Leprechaun is an ultra running race of approximately 43 miles (total listed as 43.2 miles). It is the second day of the MTC MizMal® fourteen day End to End of Ireland series and also part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series. The route starts at Eccles Hotel, Glengarriff, and finishes at Killarney Court Hotel, Killarney. Reported ascent is 1,251.3 metres and reported descent is 1,219.4 metres. This is the first edition of the MTC Leprechaun.
Logistics and rules
Competitor numbers are limited to 20, with an additional allowance of 20 MizMal® competitors for a maximum of 40. All finishers receive a bespoke Leprechaun medal; male and female champions receive trophies. Entry options include a standard fee and a Plus Race Package that includes an embroidered race shirt and lightweight hi-viz jacket. Entry fees are non-refundable; a defer option is available for a fee.
The race enforces a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph and preset cut-off points along the route; competitors who fall below this requirement may be withdrawn. Entrants must be aged 18 or over and carry mandatory kit, including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps or GPX, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food.
