MTC Leprechaun
The MTC Leprechaun is a one-day ultra running event forming day two of the MTC MizMal® fourteen day End to End of Ireland and part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series. The route runs point-to-point from Eccles Hotel in Glengarriff to Killarney Court Hotel in Killarney.
The advertised distance is approximately 43 miles (total distance shown as 43.2 miles) with 1,251.3 metres of ascent and 1,219.4 metres of descent. The field is limited to 20 race-only places with an additional allowance of 20 MizMal® competitors, giving a maximum of 40 runners. Finishers receive a bespoke LEPRECHAUN medal and male and female champions are awarded trophies.
Maps and GPX files are provided only to entrants and are emailed four weeks before the event. Competitors are tracked in real time using organiser-provided devices that include an SOS function. The event is cup-free so runners must use their own reusable cup. Preset cut-off times operate along the route based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 mph; competitors falling below this minimum may be withdrawn.
Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone and a basic first aid pack. Entry fees and upgrade options are stated in the organiser information and payments are non refundable under the terms provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
