MTC Leprechaun
The MTC Leprechaun is a single-day ultra running race covering 43.2 miles that forms Day 2 of the MTC MizMal® fourteen day End to End of Ireland and is part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge series. The route starts at Eccles Hotel in Glengarriff and concludes at Killarney Court Hotel in Killarney, with pre-determined checkpoints along the way.
Entrant numbers are restricted to 20 race-only places plus an additional allowance of 20 MizMal® competitors, giving a maximum of 40 participants. All entrants must be 20 years or over on the race day. The event has preset cut-off checks based on a minimum average speed of 4.0 miles per hour; competitors who fall below that threshold may be withdrawn.
All finishers receive a Leprechaun medal and male and female champions receive trophies. There is an optional race package that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz jacket if ordered at least four weeks before the event. Entry fees are listed as £90 for the race or £155 for the race package.
Maps and GPX files are provided to entrants four weeks before the event. Organisers supply a tracking device with an SOS function and real-time tracking is available during the race. Competitors must carry mandatory kit including a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, route maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and emergency food, and a waterproof map case. The race is cup free so competitors should bring their own reusable cup. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
