MTC Grindelo

Event

The MTC Grindelo is a single-day ultra event held on 17 July 2027 as part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series. The organiser lists the route total as 34.5 miles with an ascent of 1,328 ft and descent of 1,271 ft. The race is also Day 5 of the MTC Albion, a thirteen-day end-to-end of England. Entry is limited to 20 Grindelo competitors plus an additional 20 Albion competitors (maximum 40). Entry fees shown are £90 for the ultra entry and £155 for a plus package that includes an embroidered race shirt and a lightweight hi-viz jacket. All payments and deposits are non-refundable; an optional personal cancellation insurance is offered at checkout.

Route and logistics

The route runs from The Swan at Tarporley to Travelodge Shrewsbury Battlefield and follows the same general course used by the organiser’s JOGLE event but with reduced daily distances. Maps and GPX files are provided only to entrants and are emailed about four weeks before the event. Tracking devices with SOS capability are issued to competitors. The event enforces a minimum average pace of 4.0 mph; competitors falling below this requirement may be withdrawn. The race is cup-free; competitors must supply their own reusable cup. Mandatory kit includes a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, maps, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, basic first aid and waterproof map case.
