MTC Dullahan Ultra Marathon

The MTC Dullahan is a single-day ultra marathon covering a distance of 46 miles. This event serves as the sixth day of the fourteen-day MizMal end-to-end challenge across Ireland. The race is part of the Mount to Coast End to End Challenge Series and is limited to a maximum of 40 participants, including runners undertaking the full multi-day challenge.

The point-to-point route begins at Bellbridge House in Spanish Point, County Clare. It primarily follows the MizMal route provided by Wild Atlantic Cycling and passes through several checkpoints:

  • 46 miles
  • Lahinch at mile 9.7
  • County Clare at mile 18
  • Gortacarnaun at mile 26
  • N67 location at mile 34.9

The course concludes at Hylands Burren Hotel in Ballyvaughan. Participants must maintain a minimum average speed of 4 mph to stay within the preset cut-off times. This is a cup-free event, meaning runners must carry their own reusable drinking vessels. Mandatory kit requirements include a backpack, head torch with spare batteries, compass or GPS device, whistle, mobile phone, first aid kit, and an emergency food pack.

All finishers receive a medal, while male and female champions are awarded a race trophy. Organizers provide each runner with a tracking device to monitor progress and for safety purposes. GPX files and specific maps are issued to entrants four weeks before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
