Inis Oírr Wild Atlantic Island Run
Inis Oírr Wild Atlantic Island Run is an annual fundraiser for Coláiste Ghobnait, the secondary school on Inis Oírr. The event is held on Inis Oírr, an island off the west coast of Ireland in Galway Bay. The 2027 edition is scheduled for Saturday 17 April 2027.
The event consists of road races over the following distances:
- 10 km road run
- 5 km road run
Race services include chip timing, a mapped island course, marked and marshalled routes, and refreshments available before and after the races. Water stations are provided along the route and refreshments are supplied at the finish area in An Halla. Toilets will be available at the start/finish area. A baggage area will be provided at the start/finish; items should be labelled with the race number and are left at the owner’s risk. A minimum of two First Aid points and First Aid responders will be available during the event.
Entry is by online registration only; there will be no on-the-day registration. Online registration closes at 11:59pm on 5 April 2027 and a race T-shirt is guaranteed for online entries made on or before 26 February 2027. Entry fees are listed by category: €50 for the 10K, €50 for the 5K, €25 for ages 13–17, and €15 for under 12s. No refunds are available but entries may be deferred to the following year. Transfers are accepted up to 4 April 2027.
Prizes are awarded in male and female categories for the top three in the 10K and 5K and for first-place finishers in the over-40, over-50, and over-60 categories. All participants under 12 receive a participation certificate. Results will be published after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
