About the race
The MR Half Marathon is a half marathon event held in Morgantown, West Virginia, hosted from the Morgantown Running location on Beechurst Avenue. The event uses the rail trail and is described as a straight, flat, and fast out-and-back course that is suitable for time-focused efforts.
Distances:
- 13.1 miles out-and-back on the rail trail
- 1 mile kids race, out-and-back on the rail trail
The half marathon course starts behind the Seneca Center and follows the trail toward the Point Marion / Sheepskin Rail Trail for 6.55 miles before returning to the start. The surface is pavement for just under 3 miles, then crushed limestone. Runners can expect shaded sections and views of the Monongahela River.
Logistics and services include a 4 hour time limit, gels on course, and water at miles 2, 3, 5, 8, 10, and 11. Dogs are not permitted. The first 245 registered participants will receive event swag. Awards are given to the top three overall men and women, with age group awards in standard decade categories; first place male and female receive a pair of Hoka shoes. The event is listed as race number 17 in the NCWV series.
Online registration closes October 24. Early packet pick-up is scheduled at Morgantown Running the day before the race; race day packet pick-up is also available.
