MR Half Marathon
The MR Half Marathon takes place in Morgantown, West Virginia, featuring a route that utilizes the local rail trail system. The event is held on a course known for being straight and flat, following the Monongahela River and the Sheepskin Rail Trail.
The event offers two distinct distances:
- 13.1 miles
- 1 mile
The half marathon course begins on the rail trail behind the Seneca Center. The first three miles consist of a paved surface before transitioning to crushed limestone. This route is an out-and-back design where participants run 6.55 miles toward Point Marion before returning to the starting point. The environment offers shade and views of the river. A four-hour time limit is in place for the half marathon.
The Kids Mini Marathon is a one-mile out-and-back race on the rail trail, heading toward the Core Arboretum for half a mile before turning back.
On-course support includes water stations located at miles 2, 3, 5, 8, 10, and 11, with gels also provided. Participation gifts are available for the first 245 registered runners. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as winners across various age groups ranging from 19 and under to 90 and up. Parking is available at the Seneca Center, and please note that dogs are not permitted on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
