Mountain Ultra Trail by UTMB

Mountain Ultra Trail by UTMB is a multi-day festival of trail running held in George on South Africa’s east coast. The event takes place in and around the Outeniqua Mountains, where trails pass through fynbos and old growth indigenous forests and reach high points with views over the Indian Ocean and the arid Karoo.

The Outeniqua Mountains rise from the urban edge and include peaks up to 1,578 meters above sea level. The route network offers long distances and significant elevation gain across ridges and valleys. The event program spans several race formats with differing distances and cumulative elevation gains over multiple days in late May 2027.

Race categories listed for the event include ultra-distance and shorter mountain trail races. The program shows Running Stones values for each race category and specific elevation gain figures for each distance, reflecting the mountainous terrain and sustained climbs on the courses.

Distances included in the program: Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
