About the race
Mountain Lake Park hosts a 5K race and a separate kids run on September 6, 2026, using park trails and paths around Mountain Lake in San Francisco.

Start and finish are at the west end of the Mountain Lake Park path near 11th Avenue and Lake Street. The 5K route runs east on Mountain Trail, then turns left to run north beside Mountain Lake. Runners continue under a tunnel, bear right toward 14th Avenue and turn around at steel posts.
The return course leads north on the park trail, continues straight uphill to a turn around point at the Golf General Store, and then follows the park trail back. The route passes under the tunnel again and follows the path beside the lake before turning left to head east on Mountain Trail. The final out-and-back section runs uphill to a turnaround point before Arguello and returns straight on the path to the start.
The kids run begins after the 5K is finished. The course uses existing park trails, tunnels and lakefront paths and includes several turn points marked by local landmarks. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
