Mountain Creek Mayhem
Mountain Creek Mayhem is a trail race day held at Pine Grove Furnace State Park, Fuller Lake Day Use Area, in Gardners, PA. The event offers three distance options and routes that use trails in the northern Michaux State Forest.
Distances offered:
- 50K about 33 miles, 4400+ feet elevation gain
- 20 Miler 20 miles, about 3000 feet elevation gain
- Half Marathon about 13.1 miles, 1400+ feet elevation gain
The 50K route includes sandstone boulder ridgelines, woodland savannah, mountain laurel, wild blueberry, single track, pine needle surfaces, grassy double track, and technical forest paths. The 20 Miler follows the first 20 miles of the 50K course. The Half Marathon uses classic state forest trails with rocky single track and ridgelines.
Aid stations are placed along each course and list items such as water, electrolyte drink (Tailwind), Coke, Gingerale, fruit, potatoes or chips, Fritos, cookies including gluten free, gels and blocks, stroop waffles, candy, Rice Krispie treats, pickles, occasional meatballs, and menstrual products.
Race logistics differ by distance. The 50K allows one drop bag at Brickyard Aid Station and has crew access at Brickyard and Laurel Lake. The 20 Miler and Half Marathon have no drop bag option; crew access is available at Laurel Lake for the Half Marathon. Time limits are provided per distance.
