Mount Melleray Trail

The Mount Melleray Trail is a mountain running event located in County Waterford. The race covers a distance of 8.00 km and includes a total ascent of 250 meters. The course follows terrain categorized by the organizers as easy, with marking present only at major junctions. This event is part of the Coillte Summer/Autumn Trail League in Munster.

Participants are restricted from using GPS devices during the race. There is a participant limit of 250 runners. Due to the nature of the terrain and environment, participants must bring specific mandatory equipment to the event. This required kit includes:

  • Waterproof jacket
  • Whistle
  • Hat or buff
  • Gloves
  • Foil blanket or bivvy bag
  • Charged mobile phone with the emergency number stored

Organizers determine the final kit requirements on the day of the race based on weather conditions. Runners must have a way to carry all items, as random checks may be performed. Failure to present the required gear can result in disqualification or a denial of entry.

Entry fees are structured by age, with specific rates for seniors as well as reduced rates for participants under 18 or over 65. The event relies on a volunteer system, managed through the Irish Mountain Running Association. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
