Mount Evans Freedom Run 5K
The Freedom Run is an annual Fourth of July 5K in Evergreen, Colorado. The event features a 5K run that follows a scenic, hilly course through residential neighborhoods and is open to participants of all ages and paces. The start area is at Evergreen Middle School and the event concludes with a Finish Line After Party at the Evergreen Athletic Club offering music, refreshments, prizes, a costume contest, and family-friendly activities.
All proceeds benefit Mount Evans Home Health Care & Hospice, an agency that provides home health and hospice care, caregiver and bereavement support, and operates Camp Comfort, a grief camp for children ages 6 to 12. The Freedom Run depends on substantial volunteer support; organizers report more than 100 volunteers help stage the event.
Practical details published for participants include advance packet pickup at the Mount Evans office on June 30, July 1, and July 2, day-of packet pickup at the starting area, and parking available at Bergen Meadow Elementary. Organizers provide free transportation from the finish area back to the parking lot after the race. Well behaved dogs on leashes and strollers are permitted, with strollers and leashed dogs started near the back for safety and fairness. Awards are given by age group and overall male and female finishers, and further prizes recognize top fundraising teams and costume winners.
