Morland Half Marathon
The Morland Half Marathon is a trail event held in Morland village near Penrith in the Eden Valley. The course covers 13.6 miles with about 1330 ft of ascent and is largely off road on mixed terrain. The route is partly self navigated and uses some of the same paths as the Morland Marathon. It passes rivers, becks, Eden Valley villages, woodlands, and pastures.
The event is suitable for both runners and walkers and allows a five hour cut off. There are two checkpoints on the course where water and snacks are provided. Tail runners and first aid cover are available on the day. Finishers receive a medal and a t shirt, and trophies are awarded in multiple age and gender categories. Parking is available at the event location, which is Morland Village Hall CA10 3AS.
Organisers provide a GPX route and a printable route map and description before the event. Dogs are allowed but must be on a lead in areas with livestock and on a short lead at the start; participants are asked to avoid running with dogs in hot weather. Transfers to another runner are permitted up to three weeks before the event and deferrals have specific conditions. The organisers aim to avoid single use plastics and offer an option to plant a tree instead of taking a t shirt. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
