Morgantown Running 4 on the 4th
Morgantown Running 4 on the 4th is a community running event held in Morgantown, West Virginia on July 4, 2026. The event offers a main 4 mile event and a 1 mile kids race, both using the local rail trail behind the Seneca Center.
The 4 mile course begins on the rail trail behind the Seneca Center, heads toward Star City, then turns right to climb Mon. Blvd., passes the WVU Coliseum, continues onto Beechurst Avenue for a fast final mile, then returns to the rail trail to finish behind the Seneca Center. The 1 mile kids course is an out-and-back on the rail trail and uses the same finish line.

Course safety measures include police officers and volunteers stationed along the route to direct participants and control traffic; runners are asked to stay to the right on Mon. Blvd. Timing is provided by Parks Timing and results are posted on IPlayOutside.com within 24 hours. Photos taken by volunteers will be posted after the event. Participants must wear bibs on the front and make bibs visible when crossing the finish line. No dogs are permitted in the race. There are no refunds. Parking is available in the Seneca Center parking lot. A $100 prize will be awarded for a new course record; current course times to beat are 19:36 for men and 21:58 for women.
