Event overview

The Moray Coastal Trail races are held along the Moray coastline in Scotland on 9th May 2026. The event offers two organised distances and an entry cap of 150 runners per race. Entrants must be over 18. Cutoff times are 16 hours for the longer race and 8 hours for the shorter race. Race fees listed are £80 for the longer race and £40 for the shorter race. Fully stocked aid stations are provided and drop bags are supported.

Course and logistics

Distances listed in event information include:

  • 47 miles - long route following the Moray Coastal Trail from Forres to Cullen Viaduct.
  • 23 miles - shorter trail starting in Lossiemouth and finishing at Cullen Viaduct.

The route runs along beaches, cliffs and coastal formations and passes coastal villages and landmarks such as Findhorn, Roseisle Forest, Burghead, Lossiemouth clifftops, Spey Bay, Bow Fiddle Rock and Cullen Viaduct. The long route joins the shorter route at Lossiemouth. Route files and race handbooks, including GPX, are provided for competitors.
