The route runs between inland Forres and the coastal finish at Cullen Viaduct, passing Findhorn, Burghead, Lossiemouth, Spey Bay and a series of former fishing villages. The course features beaches, cliffs, forest sections and coastal landmarks such as Bow Fiddle Rock and areas where dinosaur footprints have been recorded.

Race format and logistics
The 50-mile event is described as an ultramarathon covering the Moray Coastal Trail from Forres to Cullen Viaduct. The shorter trail race begins in Lossiemouth and joins the main coastal route to Cullen. Both races list fully stocked aid stations and provision for drop bags; the 50-mile race has multiple aid stations and the 23-mile race has one drop bag around halfway. Cutoff times are given as 16 hours for the longer race and 8 hours for the shorter race. Entry limits are 150 runners per race. The event is open to participants aged 18 and over, and race handbooks and GPX files are provided. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
