Event Overview
The Moovin’ Thru the Midway 5K takes place at the Michigan State Fairgrounds in Novi, Michigan. The race debuted in 2019 and is part of the annual fair. It offers three event options: a standard 5K Run/Walk, a Virtual 5K, and an Economy 5K Run/Walk (which does not include a shirt or medal).
The Course
Participants follow a 5K route through the heart of the fairgrounds. The immersive course passes by attractions such as the Carnival Midway, animal exhibits, and even inside some vendor exhibits.
Finish Line & Amenities
The race finishes at the Entertainment Pavilion Beer Tent. The post-race celebration includes a finisher medal, light refreshments, free race photos, a sponsor-branded keepsake photo, and live music. Adults aged 21 and over receive a complimentary beer.
Every in-person participant receives a complimentary Ultimate Admission Ticket to the Michigan State Fair, valid on Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. This ticket includes fair entry and unlimited rides. Participants also get a unique Dri-Fit T-shirt (except for the economy option), a finisher medal, a race photo, a pint of chocolate milk, coffee, and a free beer (for those 21+).
The virtual option allows participants to complete the distance from a location of their choice and receive a mailed Race Kit.
Additional Details
The event is professionally chip-timed, providing participants with accurate, real-time results. Age group awards are presented to top finishers in multiple categories. A portion of the proceeds benefits the nonprofit Military Families United.
