Moonlight on Mt Ascension 12 Hour Night Trail Run
This is a 12 hour night trail event on Helena's South Hills trails, organized by the Helena Ultra Runners League (HURL). The course is a modified figure 8 that combines the Mount Ascension and Rodney Ridge areas and is 100% singletrack. The event is limited to 75 runners and is supported entirely by volunteers.
Runners may cover as many complete figure 8 loops as they can within the 12 hour window. A runner must complete one full figure 8 to be an official finisher. Overall and age division results are determined first by mileage covered and then by time. Partial loop mileage is credited only after a runner has completed a first full figure 8 and then on their final lap for either the Mt Ascension or Rodney Ridge loop.
Course logistics include a required clockwise Mt Ascension loop followed by a counterclockwise Rodney Ridge loop. The course will be marked with ribbons, signs, reflective tape, and glow sticks. An aid station at the Old Shooting Range Trailhead will offer typical aid station food, HEED, Perpetuem, Hammer Gel, water, soup, coffee, and hot chocolate. Wildlife such as deer, black bear, and mountain lion may be encountered on the trails. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
