Event Overview
The Fourth Annual Moonlight Beach Half Marathon is a St. Patrick's Day themed "Shamrock Run" held in Encinitas, California. The event takes place at Moonlight State Beach and includes several distances along the coast. Participants are encouraged to wear themed attire for a costume contest that offers cash prizes for both individuals and groups.
Course Information
The race features an out and back course that runs alongside the Pacific Ocean and local lagoons. The route provides participants with unobstructed views of the water for up to 8 miles. Water stations are positioned throughout the course as well as at the start and finish lines.
The event includes the following distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 5K
All participants receive a finisher medal, a race t-shirt, and chip timing via SVE timing.
Logistics and Participation
While pets and wheeled vehicles such as bicycles or skateboards are not permitted on the course, the event is stroller-friendly. No gear check is provided on-site. Parking is available at various locations including Encinitas City Hall, the Encinitas Library south lot, and San Dieguito Academy High School, with a shuttle service operating between the high school and the race area. The event supports local charities, including the Veterans Association of North County (VANC) and the Boy Scouts of America Encinitas Troop 776.
