Moonlight Beach Half Marathon
The Moonlight Beach Half Marathon is an annual St Patrick's Day running event taking place on March 14, 2027 at Moonlight State Beach in Encinitas, California. The event offers multiple race distances:
- Half Marathon
- 10K
- 6K
The course is an out-and-back along the Pacific Ocean with up to eight miles of unobstructed ocean and lagoon views. All participants receive a finisher bling, a race t-shirt, and chip timing. Top three finishers in the Half Marathon, male and female, earn cash prizes. Age bracket winners in the Half Marathon and 10K receive free entry to the 2028 race.
The event lists community and charity partners including VANC and Boy Scouts of America Encinitas Troop 776 and provides grants to those organizations. Race logistics note water stations throughout the course and at the start and finish, and that gear check is not provided. There will be no food or snacks at the start, mid, or finish areas. Strollers are allowed and BOB strollers are encouraged. Pets and wheeled devices such as bikes, rollerblades, skateboards, and scooters are not permitted.
Parking is available at the South parking lot of the Encinitas Library, Encinitas City Hall, 2nd Street, and nearby city parking lots.
