Monument Mile (Gering, NE)
The Monument Mile returns for its second year as a standalone event in Gering, Nebraska. The race was originally part of the Oregon Trail Days celebration and continues to offer a one mile course for runners and walkers.
The projected route starts near the corner of 12th and N Street by Legion Park, runs west to 19th Street, turns right one block to O Street, then turns right again and runs east to the finish at the corner of 12th and O Street. Onsite check-in and registration begin at 5:30 pm near the corner of 12th and N Street (Legion Park). The event address is 1215 N Street, Gering, NE.
Four categories are listed and will be run in this order: Recreational, Boogieman, Competitive, Fun. Each category covers the same one mile distance. The Fun category explicitly allows strollers, leashed dogs, and costumes. The Boogieman Challenge adds multiple strength challenges throughout the mile. Awards are handed out after the final run.
The event uses open category divisions rather than qualification times and includes onsite registration. Registration deadlines and additional administrative details are provided with the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
