Monterey Bay Mapathon and Half
The Monterey Bay Mapathon and Half takes place in Pacific Grove, California. This navigation-based event utilizes a custom map to guide participants across the Monterey Peninsula, focusing on historical locations and coastal views. Participants can choose between two primary distances:
- Full distance of 26.2 miles
- Half distance of 13.1 miles
Registration categories include both foot and foot-plus-bike divisions. The event is open to individuals or teams consisting of one to five members. Instead of a traditional marked course, participants use the provided map to locate between twelve and twenty-four checkpoints. At each checkpoint, participants must answer simple multiple-choice questions to confirm their arrival.
The route includes one designated aid station to support those on the course. Upon completing the navigation challenge, participants gather for refreshments and socializing at the finish area located at 585 Park Place. Registration remains open until the day before the event.
