Overview
The Mohican Trail Run, often referred to as the MO 100, is a trail running event that has been held for 35 years. It is reportedly the fifth oldest ultra-running race in the United States. The runs take place within the 5,000-acre Mohican Memorial State Forest.
Distances
The event offers three race distances:
- 100 miles
- 50 miles
- Marathon (26.2 miles)
Course and Logistics
The course includes sections of pavement, dirt road, and single-track trail that can range from muddy to rocky. Aid stations, located approximately five miles apart, stock items such as soda, ramen noodles, broth, sandwiches, fruit, and electrolyte drinks. For the 100-mile and 50-mile races, tagged drop bags are allowed at designated aid stations. The final cutoff time for the 100-mile race is 32 hours.
Qualifications and Recognition
The Mohican 100 is an index race that qualifies participants for UTMB World Series events. It is also a qualifying race for the Western States 100 lottery. Finishers of the 100-mile race within the time limit receive a custom buckle. Special buckles are also awarded for completing ten or twenty editions of the 100-mile race. All finishers of the 50-mile and marathon distances receive medals. The top five male and female finishers in each distance receive cash prizes and a complimentary entry for the following year.
Registration
Registration is conducted online with tiered pricing that increases as the event date approaches. Online registration closes before the event, with limited in-person registration available at packet pickup. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
