Moggill Marathon
The Moggill Marathon is a community running event held in the Moggill area in the Western Suburbs of Brisbane. The event offers a range of course options and is organised by the Lions Club Brisbane West with support from local sponsors.
Distances available include:
- Marathon
- Half marathon
- 10 km
- 5 km
- 2 km fun run
The routes are AIMS certified for official recognition. Organisers note significant elevation on some sections, including a feature referred to as "Mount Moggill," and advise participants to prepare for climbs and rolling terrain. Course design includes multi-lap and out-and-back sections, which have been highlighted by participants in feedback about the event.
The marathon operates as a not for profit event. Proceeds benefit Bravery Box and local community groups. Volunteer roles are used through the event for pre-race preparation, onsite registration, handing out water and providing course information, and supporting spectators. The event presents local community involvement, event volunteers, and neighbourhood support as central elements of the race day experience.
