MoCo CARES Charity Race - Gaithersburg, MD
The MoCo CARES Charity Race takes place on October 3, 2026, at 7503 Muncaster Mill Road in Gaithersburg. This is the fifth annual edition and is organized to benefit Comfort Cases and Covenant Life School, the event host.
Distances offered include:
- 10K cross-country
- 5K cross-country
- 1-mile fun run/walk (paved)
- Kids Trike-A-Thon 1-mile loop
The 10K and 5K run on cross-country terrain, so appropriate footwear is recommended. The 1-mile fun run/walk is entirely on paved school campus roads and welcomes wheelchairs, walkers, rollators, strollers, and pets on a leash. The Trike-A-Thon is held in a smaller designated loop in the parking lot and allows scooters, tricycles, bicycles, and skateboards; helmets are requested for children.
Registration opens March 12, 2026, and closes October 3, 2026. Typical entry fees listed are $45 for the 10K, $35 for the 5K, $25 for the 1-mile, and $20 for the Kids Trike-A-Thon. The event is family friendly and allows participation in more than one event.
Proceeds support Comfort Cases and Covenant Life School. Donations are tax deductible. After the races there is a service project to pack 1,000 backpacks for children in foster care; participating students receive SSL hours. Cash prizes are awarded to the top three male and female finishers (1st $200, 2nd $100, 3rd $50) and gift cards go to top three male and female winners across age groups from 10-14 through 80 and up. Prizes must be claimed in person at the award ceremony.
Packet pick-up is available at Launch, 702 King Farm Blvd, Suite 150, Rockville, MD, with free parking behind the building. Pickup hours include Friday, October 2, 9:00 to 20:00, or Saturday morning starting at 7:00. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
