MoCo CARES Charity Race, Gaithersburg MD
The MoCo CARES Charity Race is a community fundraising event held on May 1, 2027, at Covenant Life School in Gaithersburg, Maryland. The race supports Comfort Cases and Covenant Life School; donations are tax deductible. The organizers aim to raise $100,000 and plan a post-race service project to pack 1,000 backpacks of essential goods for children in foster care. Students who help with the service project can receive SSL hours.
The event includes multiple distances and activities:
- 10K cross country course, registration fee $45
- 5K cross country course, registration fee $35
- 1 mile paved fun run/walk on the school campus, registration fee $25
- Kids Trike-A-Thon loop in the parking lot, registration fee $20
The 10K and 5K take place on a cross country course; participants are advised to wear appropriate shoes for that terrain. The 1 mile fun run/walk is fully on paved campus roads and welcomes wheelchairs, walkers, rollators, strollers, and leashed pets. The Kids Trike-A-Thon is held in a smaller designated loop in the parking lot and welcomes scooters, tricycles, bicycles, and skateboards; helmets are requested.
Awards include cash prizes for the top three male and female finishers (1st $200, 2nd $100, 3rd $50). Gift cards will be awarded to top three male and female winners across the listed age categories. Participants must be present at the award ceremony to claim prizes. Packet pick-up is available before race day at the listed pickup location and includes swag bags, bibs, and race shirts.
