MoCo Cares Charity Race
The MoCo Cares Charity Race is an annual community event held in Gaithersburg, Maryland, at Covenant Life School. This fifth edition of the race serves as a fundraiser for local organizations, specifically benefiting Comfort Cases and the host school. The event brings together community members and businesses to support programs that assist children in foster care and the local area. Following the athletic events, participants may take part in a service project to pack backpacks with essential goods.
The event offers several distances and formats to accommodate different types of movement:
- 10K: A timed cross-country course requiring appropriate footwear for off-road terrain.
- 5K: A timed cross-country course held on the school grounds.
- 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk: A course held entirely on paved school campus roads, open to strollers, wheelchairs, and leashed pets.
- Kids Trike-A-Thon: A one-mile event in a designated parking lot loop for scooters, tricycles, and bicycles.
Participants have the option to enter multiple events. The top three male and female finishers in the 10K and 5K races receive cash prizes, while gift cards are awarded to top finishers across various age categories ranging from age 10 to over 80. All awards must be claimed in person during the ceremony. Race materials, including bib numbers and t-shirts, are available for collection on the day prior to the event at a designated location in Rockville or on the morning of the races.
