About the race
The MLK5K/10K and Divine Nine 5K Challenge take place at Dan Calloway Recreation Complex in Riviera Beach, Florida on January 23, 2027. The event program includes multiple distance options and youth races, and organizers expect about 400 participants.
Distances and youth races include:
- 1 mile fun run or walk
- 5K race
- 10K race (6.2 miles)
- 100 yard kids dash for ages 3 to 8
- 400 yard kids run for ages 9 to 11
The main 5K and 10K courses each provide three water stations along the route. Youth races have age-group divisions; in the 100 yard dash one adult may accompany a child at no cost. Virtual entries are available and virtual participants will be mailed a t-shirt and finisher medal. Most in-person participants receive a t-shirt and finisher medal.
A portion of net proceeds will offset registration costs for participants with financial need and will support educational programs and resources for small minority-owned businesses in Palm Beach County through two nonprofit organizations: the Black Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County and the Equity Entrepreneur Center.
The Divine Nine 5K Challenge invites fraternities and sororities to compete for trophies awarded to the organizations with the most registered members. Greek Row offers tent space for groups to gather before and after the races. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
