Event overview
The MLK5K/10K and Divine Nine 5K Challenge takes place on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Dan Calloway Recreation Complex, 1420 W 10th St., Riviera Beach, FL 33404. Organizers describe this as the fifth annual race celebrating the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. The event expects approximately 400 participants and includes both in-person and virtual options.
Events and format
The race program includes multiple distances and youth events:
- 1 Mile fun run/walk
- 5K
- 10K
- Virtual 5K or 10K
- 100-yard dash (ages 3-8)
- 400-yard fun run (ages 9-11)
- 1 Mile youth fun run/walk (ages 12 and under)
- 5K youth (ages 12 and under)
The Divine Nine 5K Challenge is a separate competition for fraternities and sororities. The organization with the most registered members in each division receives a trophy. Participating Greek organizations have promo codes that direct a portion of proceeds to college scholarships administered by the National Pan-Hellenic Council of Palm Beach County. Greek Row offers tent space for fraternities and sororities to gather before and after the race.
Community partners and proceeds
A portion of proceeds will offset registration costs for participants who cannot cover the full fee. Net proceeds also support educational programs and resources for small minority-owned businesses in Palm Beach County through the Black Chamber of Commerce of Palm Beach County and the Equity Entrepreneur Center.
