XTERRA WETSUITS Mission Bay Triathlon & 5K
The XTERRA WETSUITS Mission Bay Triathlon & 5K takes place on Sunday, October 11, 2026, at Mission Bay and Fiesta Island in San Diego. This is the 38th annual edition, produced by KOZ Events to benefit the Life Sports Foundation. The event includes adult and kids races across multiple multisport formats and notes long-term equipment sponsorship from XTERRA WETSUITS. Free weekly training clinics and group sessions are offered to help athletes prepare.
The 2026 event serves as the USA Triathlon State Championships with Age Group, High School, and Club divisions. State champions may earn the right to purchase the official California State Championship jersey. Sprint and International races qualify athletes for their respective national championships: Sprint Triathlon qualifies for Sprint Nationals and International Triathlon qualifies for Olympic-Distance Nationals. Qualification follows the greater of the top 35% of finishers or the top five athletes. State Championships held after June 1, 2026 qualify athletes for both the 2026 and 2027 national events. High school eligibility includes current students and those up to six months post-graduation; finishing a State High School Championship race automatically qualifies an athlete for Sprint Nationals if age 15 or older by December 31, 2026. Residency in California is not required to compete.

- Itsy Bitsy Triathlon (7-10): 100m swim - 2 mile bike - 0.75 mile run
