Mission Bay Triathlon
The XTERRA Wetsuits Mission Bay Triathlon is an annual multisport event held at Mission Bay and Fiesta Island in San Diego. The 2026 edition is the 38th annual event and serves as the 2026 USA Triathlon State Championships with Age Group, High School, and Club categories. KOZ Events produces the event for the benefit of Life Sports Foundation.
Races run simultaneously for adults and youth and include traditional triathlon formats plus multisport alternatives. The event lists dedicated youth distances and a separate 5K run. Free weekly training clinics are offered to help participants prepare.
Distances and formats:
- International Triathlon: 1000 m swim, 34 km bike, 9 km run
- Sprint Triathlon: 500 m swim, 17 km bike, 5 km run
- Sprint Duathlon: 1 mile run, 17 km bike, 5 km run
- Sprint Aquabike: 500 m swim, 17 km bike
- Sprint Aquathlon: 500 m swim and 5 km run
- Mini Sprint Triathlon (11 years and older): 200 m swim, 4 mile bike, 1.5 mile run
- Itsy Bitsy Triathlon (7–10 years old): 100 m swim, 2 mile bike, 0.75 mile run
- 5K run
