Miracle Mile
The Miracle Mile is an annual one mile downhill point to point race held in downtown Houlton as part of the Midnight Madness festival. The event serves as the primary fundraiser for a local foundation that provides a scholarship to area high school students pursuing education and careers in nursing and other medical fields.
The course begins at the intersection of Grant and Military Street and runs west toward downtown. Runners and walkers make a slight right onto Main Street near County Yankee Grocer, roughly halfway through the route, and finish in front of the County Co-Op in historic Market Square.
Registration is offered online in advance and there is same-day registration at the event check-in location, Military Street Baptist Church (307 Military St.). The church lot is used for official event parking. The published registration fee is $15.00.
After the race, a reception and award ceremony are held at the finish area; water is provided there. The race functions as the opening event of Houlton’s Midnight Madness, a community gathering that kicks off the Fourth of July weekend and includes additional festivities after the Miracle Mile.
