Minninglow March
The Minninglow March is a trail running event that follows a circular route from the village of Parwich in the Derbyshire Dales. The route is approximately 17 miles long with about 2,000 ft of elevation and starts and finishes at The Pavilion in Parwich.
The course is self-navigation with minimal signage, so participants must use a GPX file on a watch or phone or carry a physical map and compass. The route passes limestone-strewn paths, grassy fields, many dry-stone walls and sections of the High Peak Trail. Key landmarks on the route include Minninglow Hill and Harborough Rocks. The route also visits the villages of Carsington, Brassington and Bradbourne.
The event includes a Collect and Deliver Quest: participants collect a card at two points of interest and deliver both cards to the finish line. There are three aid stations offering sweet and savoury snacks and light refreshments, including real Coca Cola, located at about 3.5 miles, 9.4 miles and 14 miles.
Entry is limited to 150 participants. The fee is £35 for UKA or TRA affiliated entrants with an additional £2 for unaffiliated entrants. Included with entry are specific parking in Parwich, an embroidered finisher patch, GPX of the route, event photos and results published within 24 hours. Prizes acknowledge the top three male and female finishers.
Mandatory kit requirements include suitable clothing, trail shoes, capacity to carry 500ml fluids, emergency food, a whistle and navigation (GPX and/or map and compass). Adverse weather kit may be required and includes waterproof trousers, warm hat and gloves. All entrants must be over 18. The overall time cut-off is six hours, so participants should be able to sustain roughly three miles per hour over trail terrain. Cancellations are not refundable but entries may be transferred up to one week before the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
