About the race
The Mingus Madness 50k is a trail running event that begins near the top of Mingus Mountain in Prescott Valley, Arizona, and follows routes through the Woodchute Wilderness. The course goes up and down several canyons and offers panoramic views of Prescott Valley, Prescott, Chino Valley, Verde Valley, Sedona, Sycamore Canyon, and the mountain peaks near Flagstaff.

The course includes about 6,000 feet of elevation gain, three staffed aid stations, and post race food. The event is organized as a low key, small-field race; the inaugural running had 21 participants with 17 official finishers, and the second edition had 25 runners with 24 finishers (one participant chose the 18 mile option). The third edition is scheduled for November 7, 2026; registration for that edition is open with a stated entry fee of $25 (about $30 with Ultrasignup fees).
