Mingus Madness 50k
The Mingus Madness 50k is a mountain trail event that starts near the top of Mingus Mountain in Prescott Valley, AZ. The course runs through the Woodchute Wilderness, travels up and down several canyons, and offers panoramic views of Prescott Valley, Prescott, Chino Valley, Verde Valley, Sedona, Sycamore Canyon, and the mountain peaks near Flagstaff.
The advertised course distance is 33 miles, with about 6,000 feet of vertical gain. The event includes three aid stations and post-race food. A shorter option of about 18 miles was offered as a “fun run” in a previous edition.
Recorded field sizes from past editions indicate small, limited fields: the inaugural running had 21 starters and 17 official finishers, and the second edition had 25 starters and 24 finishers. The third edition is scheduled for November 7, 2026. A registration fee is listed as $25, with a higher total when platform fees are included.
