Event

MindOverMoors - Esk Valley Way Ultra is a point-to-point ultra run on Saturday 1 August 2026. The distance is 36 miles and the event has a 14-hour time limit. Entry is limited to 100 participants and the minimum age to enter is 20. Entries open 5 October 2025 and close 1 July 2026. Entry fees are listed as Affiliated £57.00 and Unaffiliated £59.00. A coach option and an optional t-shirt are available for additional fees.

Course and navigation

The route follows the official Esk Valley Way across the North York Moors, starting in Castleton and finishing at Whitby Harbour beneath the Abbey ruins. The course traces the River Esk and passes Danby Dale, Rosedale Head, Blakey Ridge, the remains of Esklets, Westerdale, Danby, Lealholm, Glaisdale, Egton Bridge, and Grosmont. Total ascent is 4,054. The course is fully waymarked and supported with GPX and Strava routes, premium OpenTracking GPS tracking with live timing and splits, and taped sections where needed.

Support and facilities

Mandatory kit includes a waterproof jacket with taped seams, hats and gloves (buff allowed), capacity to carry 500 ml fluid, a fully charged phone, a survival bag, and a whistle. The event provides first aid cover, five checkpoints with toilet facilities and basic food and drinks, and an option to leave a non-returnable food drop bag at the mid-way checkpoint. There is free parking, toilets at the start and finish, a finisher medal for all finishers, podium trophies, and event insurance (ARC/26/0101).
