Millinocket Marathon & Half
The Millinocket Marathon and Half is a volunteer organized road race in Millinocket, Maine, scheduled for December 5, 2026. The event features two distances:
- Marathon 26.2 miles two laps of the 13.1-mile loop
- Half Marathon 13.1 miles one lap of the loop
Both courses are USATF certified (Marathon ME16007JK; Half ME16008JK) and may be used to qualify for major marathons. The loop course begins with a paved climb leaving town, follows approximately six miles on the Golden Road, a gravel logging road run by permission, and finishes with roughly six miles of pavement returning into town. Runners are required to keep to the left side of the road and face oncoming traffic where directed.
The event is chip timed; timing chips are attached to the back of bib numbers. Bibs must be worn on the front and should not be folded. There are official course time limits for each distance and required average paces for completion.
There is no formal entry fee; participants are strongly encouraged to make an optional donation at registration to cover essential race expenses such as timing, course certification, portable toilets, bus transportation, and insurance. Water stops are not guaranteed. Free bus transportation is provided on race day and there is no parking near the start and finish area. The race is produced entirely by unpaid volunteers and proceeds beyond essential expenses are donated to local groups. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
