40th Annual Milkman Triathlon
The 40th Annual Milkman Triathlon is a sprint triathlon held at Bottomless Lakes State Park instead of Lake Van because of low water levels at Lake Van. The course uses a deep lake swim and a hilly bike route.
Distances:
- Swim 0.5 km
- Bike 20 km
- Run 5 km
Athletes may compete as soloists or in relay teams. Relay teams must be mixed gender to qualify for awards. Chocolate milk and ice cream will be available at the finish area.
Packet pickup takes place on the day before the race and resumes on race day at Bottomless Lakes State Park; participants must bring identification and a USAT card. The state now requires a daily park day pass for entry: $5 for residents or $10 for non-residents.
Participants are required to follow USAT rules. Key points include wearing a helmet with chinstrap secured while in possession of the bike, no unauthorized assistance, non-drafting bike position rules, completing the full course in order, no glass containers in transition, visible race numbers that are not altered or transferred, and restrictions on use of communication devices during competition.
