40th Annual Milkman Triathlon
The 40th Annual Milkman Triathlon is a sprint triathlon held at Bottomless Lakes State Park in Roswell, New Mexico on June 6, 2026. The event was moved from Lake Van because of low water levels. The course uses a deep lake for the swim and includes a hilly bike route.
Distances for the main triathlon are:
- Swim 0.5 km in the lake
- Bike 20 km on public roads
- Run 5 km on park trails and roads
Athletes may compete as a soloist or as part of a relay team. Relay teams must be mixed gender to qualify for awards. Packet pickup is scheduled across two days prior to the event; identification and a USAT card are required for pickup. Participants are subject to the state park daily fee of $5 for residents or $10 for non-residents.
Registration windows and fees for the listed events are provided by the organizer. Reported entry fees include $75 for the soloist category and $25 for relay and other listed categories. Race officials enforce standard USAT competition rules, including helmet use while in possession of a bike, prohibition of drafting, requirement to wear visible race numbers during the run, restrictions on glass containers, and rules against transferring race numbers.
