Miles Per Hour
The Miles Per Hour run is an indoor one hour event at McCormick Place held during the Chicago Auto Show. Participants have one hour to cover as much distance as they can, running repeated loops that pass through the Auto Show floor.
The loop includes laps through the exhibit halls, stretches across the Grand Concourse bridge with views of the Chicago skyline, wide windows in the Lakeside Center overlooking Lake Michigan, long straightaways, zig zag sections, and an incline on the indoor bridge over Lake Shore Drive. Mile markers are posted at each mile and timing mats are placed at multiple locations to record distances.
Event amenities include a finisher medal, T shirt, MPH Cup for the top male and female, overall awards, and age group awards. Age groups include 14 and under then 15-19 through 85 and over. Age group awards are shipped after the event. Aid stations offering water and Gatorade Endurance are available at multiple points and a gear check is provided on site. The field is capped at 800 participants.
Registration closes February 6 and refunds or deferrals are not issued. Unregistered persons may not run on the course and guests may spectate in designated areas outside the show floor; guests must have an Auto Show ticket to enter the show after the run. The event may be canceled or modified for safety or venue issues without refund. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
