About the race
The Miles Per Hour run is an indoor one hour event held at McCormick Place through the Chicago Auto Show. Participants attempt to cover as much distance as possible within 60 minutes while running repeated loops through the exhibition halls and the Grand Concourse skybridge. The course passes the Auto Show displays, offers views of the Chicago skyline and Lake Michigan through the Lakeside Center windows, and includes long straightaways, zig-zag sections, and an incline on the indoor bridge over Lake Shore Drive. Mile markers are posted each mile and timing mats are placed at multiple locations to capture finishing results.
Water and Gatorade Endurance are provided at aid stations placed at several points on the course. All participants start together in a single wave and are asked to self-seed into corrals by their expected pace per mile. The event has a capacity of 850 and registration closes in early February or sooner if capacity is reached. Packet pick-up and on-site gear check are available; packet mailing is offered with a separate deadline. Awards include a finisher medal, T-shirt, MPH Cup award, overall awards for top finishers, and age group recognition that is mailed to awardees.
