Miles for Music - Northampton
Miles for Music is an 8.1 mile point-to-point event on the Norwottuck Rail Trail between downtown Amherst and downtown Northampton. The event offers options for individual runners, a two-person relay, and walkers, and features live music along the route.
Participants can choose from these distances and formats:
- 8.1 mile run or walk from Amherst to Northampton
- Team Relay Challenge with one leg of 5 miles and one leg of 3.1 miles
- Walkers welcome for full course or relay options
The relay handoff is planned at TheQuarters in Hadley on the rail trail. The official route map will be provided to participants by mid-August. The event supports two nonprofit music venues, The Drake and The Iron Horse, and aims to raise funds and awareness for local live music and the downtowns they serve.
Registration includes a supported point-to-point course, live music on route, shuttle service to start, finish and relay points, a food voucher for the finish celebration at Taste of Northampton, and fundraising options that can include a T-shirt for those who reach a specified fundraising level. Awards and prizes will be presented across individual, relay, youth, and fundraising categories. The event proceeds rain or shine; dogs are not permitted and there are no refunds.
