MIHEI Strides for Mothers 5K
MIHEI Strides for Mothers is a fundraising running and walking event organized by the Maternal and Infant Health Equity Initiative. The event supports MIHEI’s work to improve maternal health access and coordinated care in Nigeria through insurance access, care navigation, peer support, emergency referral pathways, and postpartum follow-up. It is MIHEI’s first public fundraising event in the United States.
The event takes place on August 22, 2026 at DCR's Chestnut Hill Reservation in Brighton, Boston. Participation is limited to 200 spots and requires a minimum donation of $50; the organizer states that 100 percent of funds go to programs. Every finisher receives a custom MIHEI-branded finisher medal with a sublimated ribbon.
Participant packets include a race bib, timing chip, safety pins, an event information card, a course map, and any ordered merchandise. Pre-race packet pickup is offered at Marathon Sports in Brookline the day before the race with a 20 percent in-store discount for participants; limited race morning pickup is available at the start area with reduced staffing. Free parking is available at Reilly Memorial Rink and the course is accessible via Green Line C Cleveland Circle.
