About the race
The 37th Annual Midnight Madness Run is a two-part event held at Kiwanis Park Soccer Field Cross Country Course in Tempe, AZ on December 31, 2026 and January 1, 2027. The event stages a final 5K for 2026 and a first 5K for 2027, with an option to run both races as a combined entry and a virtual participation option.
Organized by StartLine Racing at 6111 S All America Way, the event includes a New Year celebration and a sparkling cider toast between the two races. Packet pick-up is offered before the event at Road Runner Sports in Tempe and at the Kiwanis Park south entrance on race weekend; packets contain bibs, timing chips, and event items. Virtual registrations are restricted to US addresses and virtual items are shipped after the event.
Finishers receive a custom event medal; participants who run both events receive two medals that join to form a larger medal. A custom dri-fit long sleeve hooded shirt is available, and race day participants are eligible for male and female age group awards for the top three in each category. Age groups listed include 8 & Under, 9-10, 11-13, 14-17, 18-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, and 80 & Over.
The event is chip timed with real-time results and race photos, provides pre- and post-race snacks, is pet friendly for leashed animals, and notes that the course may be changed if deemed unsafe on race day.
