Event overview
The 36th Annual Midnight Madness Run is organized by StartLine Racing and takes place at Kiwanis Park Soccer Field Cross Country Course in Tempe, AZ. The event spans New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day with a final 5K for 2025 on December 31, 2025 and a first 5K for 2026 on January 1, 2026. A New Year’s celebration and a sparkling cider toast occur between the two races.
Race and registration details

Registration options include a Double Down entry covering both races, separate entries for the Final 5K and the First 5K, and a Virtual Run. Virtual registrations are restricted to US addresses and include shipping of event items after the event. Packet pick-up is available the day before at Road Runner Sports in Tempe and at the event site on race day. Race day check-in and registration are available at the event site.
Participants receive custom finisher medals (two medals connect into one larger medal for Double Down entrants), a custom Dri-Fit long sleeve hooded shirt (option to decline the shirt for a discount), and pre- and post-race snacks. Race day participants are eligible for age group awards (top three in each age group from 8 & Under through 80 & Over). The event uses chip timing with real time results and photos.
