Cocking Trail Races
The Cocking Trail Races are held in the South Downs, starting from the Cadence Cycle Club Café at the top of Cocking Hill. The routes consist of hilly and scenic terrain through the Cowdray Estate and the West Dean Estate. Participants navigate a course that includes steady climbs and a fast downhill section leading toward the finish line.
The event offers several distances and categories:
- 20k trail race
- 10k trail race
- Junior trail races for age categories 6-8, 9-11, and 12-15
The races are licensed by the Trail Running Association and conducted under UK Athletics rules. Participation in the adult races requires runners to be at least 16 years old. Registration is limited to 350 participants, and all entries must be completed online in advance, as no entries are accepted on the day of the event.
Facilities at the race village include on-site car and bike parking, toilets, and refreshments. Participants receive chip timing and a finisher’s medal. Prizes are awarded to leading runners and category winners, alongside various spot prizes. Technical race T-shirts are available for pre-order.
The venue is accessible by car via the A286 or by public transport using the Stagecoach bus route 60 from Chichester or Midhurst. Dogs and canicross participants are not permitted on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
