Meyerhoff's Mayhem
Meyerhoff's Mayhem is a 48 hour endurance event held at Big Woods Campground in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The format is repeated 4 miles legs every four hours over 48 hours, with an optional 2 miles add-on after the final leg. Event types include:
- 48 hour Individual
- 48 hour Team Relay (2-4 people)
The route starts from the tent area and uses paved trails and the disc golf course, offering a mix of surfaces. Teams may divide legs among members as they choose. Ruck participants may carry weight of their choice. Halloween costumes are encouraged.
Organizers provide light meals and water between legs; a planned menu lists offerings across twelve legs and may change as details are finalized. Fuel items and snacks include veggie broth, energy balls, GU, donuts, bagels, fruit, sandwiches, chips, soups, and other simple meals. Personal lights are required for running in the dark. Pets are not allowed for the runs.
Participants receive race sweatshirts and volunteers receive t-shirts. Medals are awarded to finishers. The event is presented in memory of a runner who loved the sport and pushing personal limits. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
