Mesa Marathon
The Mesa Marathon, formerly known as the Phoenix Marathon, is a long-distance running event held in Arizona. The event features a variety of distances to accommodate different participants, including:
- Marathon (26.2 miles)
- Half Marathon
- 10K road race
- Kids 1K (free entry)
The courses are designed to be smooth and downhill, leading participants through scenic desert landscapes. Due to the downhill nature of the route, the event is frequently used by runners attempting to achieve a personal record or a Boston Marathon qualifying time.
Participants receive several race perks, including industry-standard shirts and medals. The road courses are supported by staff and volunteers throughout the duration of the event. The race has a history of high demand, with many editions between 2013 and 2020 reaching maximum capacity.
The event is part of a local series in the Valley area. Runners who complete both the Mesa Marathon and the reborn Phoenix Marathon are eligible to receive a specific "Desert Double" medal. The race includes an expo and specific areas for spectator viewing. Professional photography and race results are provided for participants after the event.
