Merritt Backyard Ultra 2026

The Merritt Backyard Ultra is an endurance running event held in Merritt, British Columbia. The competition takes place on a 6.7 km loop and offers two distinct participation formats. This community initiative supports the Cops for Kids charitable foundation, with all proceeds from the event donated to the cause.

In the individual race category, participants must complete the 6.7 km loop within one hour. A new loop begins exactly at the top of every hour. Runners who finish the distance in less than 60 minutes may use the remaining time to rest and prepare for the next start. The race continues until only one runner remains. To be declared the winner, the final participant must successfully complete one solo loop.

The event also features a team category for groups of 2 to 4 members:

  • Only one team member runs per loop.
  • The active runner must finish the loop within the hour for the team to remain in the competition.
  • Teams are permitted to complete a maximum of 24 loops.

The event is located at 2999 Voght St. Registration is available for solo participants and teams. Team captains create and pay for the team entry, after which individual members can join the roster. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
