5th Annual Mentoring Matters 5K
The 5th annual Mentoring Matters 5K is a run and walk hosted by the Follow My Steps nonprofit organization. This event takes place in Forest Park in Springfield, Massachusetts, with the primary registration area located at the Monkey House. Participants can park in the Cyr Arena parking lot.
The event offers two main participation formats:
- 3.1 Miles (In-person running race)
- 3.1 Miles (Virtual race)
The virtual option allows participants to engage in various activities such as running, walking, or dancing at any time leading up to the event date. For the virtual race, individuals are encouraged to track their progress using a smartphone or smartwatch. In-person participants have the choice to register as individuals or as part of a team, and there is an option for teams to participate in fundraising efforts.
Registration includes a commemorative tee shirt, though availability is limited. A discount for youth participants is applied during the checkout process. The funds raised through registration fees support various initiatives for youth in under-resourced communities, including school supplies, financial aid for students entering college, and workshops focused on career and skill development.
