Media 5 Mile Race
The Media 5 Mile Race is an annual community road race held on the second weekend of June; the 2026 edition is scheduled for Friday, June 12, 2026. The main event is a five mile run. The race began in 1980 as a fundraiser for a local political campaign when two residents outlined a course and planned an evening of community activity; it has continued as an annual event.
The race starts at Barrell Park and Field on State and Edgemont Streets, across from Media Elementary. The event program includes a kid's fun run and relies on volunteers and sponsors for organization and support. Organizers provide race information such as a course map and a parking map, and publish race results; recent results include the 2025 outcomes. Proceeds are used to make contributions to local organizations that provide advocacy, education, health and safety services, and assistance to families in need.
