About the race
Mecca Moves 5K/1K Walk, Run, Roll is a community event scheduled for September 19, 2026, in downtown Burr Ridge at 150 Burr Ridge Parkway. The event is hosted by The Mecca Center in partnership with the Village of Burr Ridge and is described as family and kid friendly, welcoming participants of all ages and abilities.

Proceeds from the event benefit Arab American Family Services (AAFS) to directly fund their domestic violence and elderly support programs. The 5K and 1K are on a USATF certified course with electronic chip timing. Awards for the 5K include overall trophies for male and female finishers in the top three and age-group medals for first and second places across multiple age brackets (Under 13; 14 to 18; 19 to 29; 30 to 39; 40 to 49; 50 to 59; 60 to 69; 70 and over). The 1K offers top three overall trophies for male and female runners plus first place division medals. Every child in the Kids Dash receives a mini finisher medal.
Registration fees for the 5K and 1K are listed with an early bird rate and a later rate; a youth discount applies automatically for participants age 12 and under. Packet pick-up is available the day before at The Mecca Center lobby and on event day at the Chase Bank parking lot.
