Meaford Harbour 5K Run/Walk - 30th Anniversary

The Meaford Harbour 5K Run/Walk is an annual fundraiser for the Brightshores Meaford Hospital Foundation. The 30th anniversary edition takes place on Saturday, July 11, 2026. The stated fundraising goal for 2026 is $100,000 to support the Emergency Department revitalization campaign.

The event traces its origins to the Big Apple Race from the late 1970s and has evolved into a regular source of funding for hospital equipment and priority needs. Over 29 years the event has raised more than $1.15 million. The 2025 edition attracted more than 500 participants and raised $115,000.

Format and on-course features have included chip timing, water stations operated by the Hospital Auxiliary, and entertainment near the waterfront. Registration opened on March 1 with early bird pricing, and the first 500 5K registrants will receive the 30th Anniversary HRW t-shirt. Organization relies on volunteers and local sponsors, and each year the event supports a specified hospital priority such as diagnostic imaging, cancer care, mental health initiatives, or emergency department equipment.
