McNabs Half Marathon
The event takes place on McNab's Island in McNab’s Provincial Park and is organized by Urban Trail Racing. It is scheduled for July 4, 2026 and includes an inaugural half marathon trail race.
The route goes by the stone walls of Fort McNab, passes the lighthouse, and follows beach sections with views of the city. The distances offered are:
- 7 km
- 14 km
- 21 km (half marathon)
Most participants need a boat to reach the island. Sea Halifax provides crossings from a downtown Halifax pier or from King’s Wharf in Dartmouth. Crossings to the island take about 7 to 15 minutes. When registering, runners can select departure and return locations based on their chosen distance. For return trips, boats operate continually until 3 pm and depart as each boat fills; participants are responsible for being at the wharf for departure.
