micrOTQ (The Micro)
micrOTQ is a marathon event of 26.2 Miles held at Rockland Lake State Park in Valley Cottage, NY. The course is a 2.94 mile criterium-style loop measured by a World Athletics "A" certifier. The event is USATF certified and sanctioned, and micrOTQ appears on the World Athletics calendar. Marathon certification code USA-2023-071 is associated with the course.
The event series began in 2021 through coaches affiliated with McKirdy Trained to provide fast, supported marathon opportunities. In 2023 the micrOTQ edition focused on athletes aiming for the USATF Olympic Trials qualifying standard. Results from that year included 48 athletes under the 2:18:00/2:37:00 OTQ standards, more OTQs from this race than any other race in 2023, two athletes who went on to become Olympians, 69% of finishers recording a personal best, and 85% recording their second fastest lifetime marathon.
For 2027 the organizers list three marathon events under The Micro banner: micrOTQ, Breaking 3, and microBQ. micrOTQ is presented as the event targeting athletes pursuing Olympic Trials standards.
