MCHS Foundation Tumbleweed Triathlon 2026
The MCHS Foundation Tumbleweed Triathlon is a multi-sport competition held on the University of Texas Permian Basin (UTPB) campus in Odessa, Texas. This event is sanctioned and officiated by USA Triathlon (USAT) and utilizes chip timing for all participants. The race is limited to 66 individual entries and 10 relay teams.
The event features a sprint-distance format consisting of the following segments:
- 400 yard swim: A snake-style swim held in a 50-meter pool at the UTPB campus.
- 20 km bike: A three-loop course on flat terrain using closed lanes around the campus. Protective helmets are mandatory for all cyclists.
- Run: An out-and-back route situated on the campus grounds with minimal vehicle traffic.
Participants are required to handle USAT registration, as a membership or one-day fee is necessary to compete. Packet pickup is organized at the MCH Mission Fitness Center on the day prior to the race. Identification is required at pickup, and all event waivers must be signed electronically.
The transition area and starting line are located at the UT Permian Basin Pool. The competition is inclusive of both individual athletes and teams. Registration for the event includes no refund options for weather-related issues or other unforeseen circumstances. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
