McDonough Trail Race - McDonough Wildlife Refuge, Vienna, WV
The McDonough Trail Race takes place on July 18, 2026, at the McDonough Wildlife Refuge in Vienna, West Virginia. This is the 2nd Annual running of the event on the refuge property near 2196 Rosemar Road.
The course is a roughly 4 mile loop that passes through forested areas and past duck marshes. The course description notes elevation gain up to 430 feet per loop. Runners complete the loop twice for an approximate total of 8 miles; walkers complete a single loop of about 4 miles.
Distances:
- 4 mile loop for walkers, one pass
- 8 miles for runners, two passes of the 4 mile loop
Registration opens February 7, 2026, and closes May 31, 2026. The listed registration fee is $25.00 for the event entries shown.
This race is part of the River City Runners and Walkers Series 2026. It is one of six races in the series that count toward earning a personalized jacket at the awards banquet.
