McDonough Trail Race
The 2nd Annual McDonough Trail Race takes place on July 18, 2026 at McDonough Wildlife Refuge, 2196 Rosemar Road, Vienna, WV 26105, United States. The event uses a 4 mile loop that passes through forests and by duck marshes and has total elevation gains up to 430 feet per loop. Runners cover the loop twice for a roughly 8 mile total.
There will be at least two hydration stations on course stocked with water, Tailwind hydration and pickles.

Awards are given to the top three overall finishers in each category: Male Runner, Female Runner, Male Walker, Female Walker. Top three finishers are also recognized in the listed age groups for each category. Age groups are 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75 and over. There will be no repeat award winners. Door prizes will follow the awards.
Refreshments after the event include bananas, granola bars, snacks and smoked pulled pork sandwiches plus water and other hydration drinks. The race is one of six races in the River City Runners and Walkers Series 2026 used to qualify for a personalized jacket at the awards banquet.
