McClellan Madness - March 7, 2026
McClellan Madness takes place at the McClellan Bike Trails in Anniston, Alabama, on the former Fort McClellan property. The event uses a 4.1 mile single-track loop that is generally runnable with a few rocks and about 300 feet of elevation per loop. For 2026 the course will be run counter clockwise.
The event offers two time-format options:
- 4 hour format - four loops, about 25k
- 8 hour format - eight loops, about 50k
There will be a self-serve full aid station at the start and finish area stocked with snacks; organizers note vegan options and will also grill grilled cheese and vegan grilled cheese. Organizers will staff water, Coke, Ginger Ale and Tailwind at aid points. Participants may set up a personal aid station at the start/finish, at their car, in the grass, or at the outdoor amphitheater. The event is cupless.
Each entrant receives a soft t-shirt; the deadline for shirt orders was February 3rd and late registrants may not receive a shirt. Awards are given to the male and female participant who cover the longest distance in each format. The organizer states there are no refunds or deferrals; entry transfers to another runner are possible. The course begins and ends at the McClellan bike trailhead.
A historic note included by the organizer indicates that ordnance and land mines may still be found on the fort, and participants are advised to remain on the trail. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
