McClellan Madness
McClellan Madness is a timed trail running event at the McClellan Bike Trails in Anniston, Alabama, organized by Dirty Soles Trail Races. The event offers both 4 hour and 8 hour formats that run on a repeated loop course and finish at the bike trailhead.
The course is a 4.1 mile single track loop that is generally runnable with a few rocks and no technical sections noted. Elevation for one loop is approximately 300 feet. Participants are advised to stay on the marked trail because the former Fort McClellan area may contain old ordnance or other hazards.
Distances and challenge options
- 4 hour event with a four loop challenge totaling 25k
- 8 hour event with an eight loop challenge totaling 50k
Aid and event services include a self serve full aid station at the start and finish that will be kept stocked, with vegan options available if requested. Organizers will also serve water, Coke, Ginger Ale and Tailwind, and will offer grilled cheese and vegan grilled cheese. Runners may set up a personal aid spot at the start area, at their vehicle, on the grass, or at the outdoor amphitheater. This is a cupless event.
Each registered runner receives a soft t shirt if entered before the shirt deadline of February 3rd. One male and one female for each format who cover the greatest distance receive an award. There are no refunds or deferrals; entry transfers may be arranged through the organizer. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
